Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to attend your meetings?

Absolutely not, we welcome guests at all our meetings. You're welcome to visit as often as you'd like, with no obligation.

If I attend, will I have to speak?

Absolutely not! However you will have the opportunity to should you desire to exercise that.

Do I need to be affiliated with MIT?

Absolutely not! Some of our attendees and members are, but many have no affiliation with MIT other than being grateful to MIT for providing a room for our meetings.

Can members of other Toastmasters chapters attend your meetings?

Certainly. We welcome members of other chapters. Many of our regular members are also members of other chapters.

Since your name is humor and drama, are all your speeches humorous or dramatic?

Not necessarily, although many of the people that attend do have a humorous or dramatic bent. People tell us our meetings are more fun that other Toastmasters meetings. But don't take their word for it, stop by and judge for yourself!

How do I become a member?

Just come to a meeting, fill out a membership form, and pay your dues (currently $20 for a one-time new member fee if you're not a member of another Toastmasters chapter, plus $29 for six months, payable to 'Humor and Drama Toastmasters'). Then the real fun begins!
